There is nothing like face-to-face connection, and attending the Cycling Without Age Global Summit in Budapest gave us the chance to spend time with people from chapters across the world, sharing ideas, experiences and plenty of stories along the way.
Being in a part of the world where Cycling Without Age is so well established, with chapters much more closely connected geographically, also provides a kind of learning that is not available in Australia. We were able to hear how other chapters approach their work, share what we have learned through Cycling Without Age Sorrento and come away with new ideas.
One of the things that stayed with us was CWA founder Ole Kassow’s reminder that there is no single way to run a chapter. Each chapter finds its own way to bring the shared belief of Cycling Without Age to life in its community, and that diversity is part of what makes the movement so special.
Same, same, but different. We may all be working towards the same belief in connection and inclusion, but the way that looks in each community is shaped by the people, places and circumstances around it.
For Motion by the Ocean, being able to learn from those differences, while also sharing what we have developed here in Western Australia, is an important part of staying curious, connected and open to what might be possible next.
